BrotherBill visits BigSis at JPL

Inside the clean room where they build satellites. This is the turtle shell for a lack of a better word that will lower the next rover onto the surface of Mars before it flies away.

Everyone working in the room is not only clean but static free. The black wires around there shoulders that go to their wrists is to prevent static arcs.

The room is big. See the movie.  All of these shots are from a display window for people like me with a Liberal Arts degree.

This is a model of an already landed rover on Mars. It is stuck. It is still transmitting. I understand in its immobile state that are using it to measure Mars movements and trying to understand the inner workings of the planet.  (I don't know, but that is what Kelly said.) This model was built so they could figure out a way to go back and get it out of the sand it is currently stuck in. That would be very impressive.

BrotherBill in the Mars Yard. I tripped as I walked out there and I almost fell face first on a lava rock.

Picture of a picture of the ATHLETE and its acronym.

The ATHLETE has six legs, I am standing between two the the third behind me facing the other way. The other 3 are in front of me.

I had lunch with my sister and my old friend Erik from high school. Erik writes code for a camera for some cool thing to be launched into space. What is rad is that his old man build the camera. He is engineer too.  Paid 5 bucks for a chicken salad rap in a green tortilla.  Good tea. Good times.

The best part of the trip was the dead alien body they have the lobby. It super cool with big eyes and really long fingers. I would have taken a picture of it for you Felipe but they said I am not allowed to take pictures of that.

  1. Great blog Bill! Added info...you are standing in front of the TRI-ATHLETE, of which the two together make an ATHLETE. And I told you to keep that Alien a secret, now the Feds will be after me!
